GRAND FINALS WEEK 3 RESULTS

Another great round of games today. Despite the emotions of the Grand Finals, all the Mounties players carried themselves admirably, in defeat as well as victory.

Mounties u13-1 capped off a stellar year with a clear 2-0 win in the Grand Final. Great work by all the players, the coaching and support group and the team's supporters!

After the 13-1s, every game was close.

Mounties 14-1Y had a very close game in the Shield Cup. Down an own goal early and then 0-2 despite having over 70% of the possession, they worked their way back into the contest. They were denied an equaliser in the last 2 minutes by an overreach by the AR. The players were gutted to lose 1-2 but should be proud of their performance. It was a cruel blow. Life goes on and the boys and their coaches carried themselves with dignity.

Mounties 14-1B played well in another tight contest and eventually took the lead. The team stayed strong and kept their concentration to win 1-0. The team was unsuccessful in the final of the State Cup so this was a well-earned consolation. They are worthy Premiers, along with the other winning Mounties sides.

Mounties u15-1 had a seesawing contest, one that also saw a last minute AR decision decide the result. Mounties missed a penalty early and then went 0-1 down, then came back to lead 2-1 before a lapse in concentration allowed an equaliser. The eventual result was a 2-3 loss after a cruel intervention by the sideline official in the last minute. The team played an excellent brand of football and perhaps deserved a better outcome - but that's life and sport! We pick ourselves up and go again...

Mounties u16-1 won the Minor Premiership by a long way but a Grand Final is always a different contest... The half-time score reflected this at 0-0. Mounties eventually took the lead but the opposition worked hard and was able to equalise. Mounties rose to the challenge and ran out winners 2-1.

Congratulations to all of the Mounties sides this year. There was a lot of footballing progress made and we hope the improvements keep happening!

Thank you to all of our coaches and managers - they are all volunteers who put their time and passion into preparing the players to play sport on the weekend, and for some of them to go on to play and even win finals!

GRAND FINALS WEEK 1 RESULTS

For Mounties teams, this weekend provided all the drama, highs and lows that Grand Finals can provide.

On Saturday, U14-2 and U15-3 both lost via Extra Time "Golden Goal". It was two very close games, the U14-2 being behind most of the game before equalising just before the end of normal time.

I know that the players and supporters of both the teams keenly felt the disappointment of a Grand Final loss, especially in that manner!

The U12-3 were somewhat overawed by the occasion and never quite got into the game. However, the boys should be proud of the journey they've been on - how far they've come from the beginning of the season and to make the Grand Final was a big achievement. Now they've had a taste, we hope they train even harder for next year!

Today, the Men's All Age Division 7 team had a very close Grand Final. They took an early lead, before finding themselves 2-1 down deep into the second half. The team showed tremendous self-belief and team spirit to run out winners 3-2. Unfortunately, long-term Mounties stalwart and Captain-Coach Richard Ashby was carted off by ambulance early in the game with a possibly dislocated ankle. Hopefully the team's victory will speed his recovery.

Stand by for more excitement next weekend with the Ladies AAL-2 and L18/21 in action on Sunday, followed by the U13-1, U14-1B, U14-1Y, U15-1 and U16-1 the following Saturday (24th).

Thank you to all the Supporters who turned out - the players enjoy and appreciate all your support.
